Sretan Uskrs, obitelj!! :)
Well, this week has been different, for sure! And this upcoming week will be even weirder, in the missionary work standpoint. We are moving this week, so we arent going to have a lot of time to visit or go tracting or NIŠTA. But it will be good to finally get into our new apartment. It is so cute :) And so much closer to centar. I cant wait to send you pictures!!
Last pday was AMAZING. I went to H&M and found the most perfect missionary skirt that has ever existed, and I think i wore it every day this week. Then the Zagreb sisters met up with us and we went and walked down the pier (which is definitely not as cool as it sounds) and then we went to TRSAT. DO YOU KNOW WHAT TRSAT IS? ITS A CASTLE. LIKE. IT LOOKS LIKE THE CASTLE FROM BRAVE. its this little teeny thing, but i just felt like a princess. we could see it down from the pier, and before we finished walking down the pier, we were like... why are we on the pier. we need to go to the castle. SO WE DID. AND IT WAS THE BEST DAY OF MY LIFE. Then, we made our way to Zagreb!! And I met the woman who is TRANSLATING THE BOOK OF MORMON :) isnt that SO cool?!! the translation we have right now is not very good, so she is paid by the church to retranslate the whole thing. i just felt famous being in her presence for some reason. and she was super nice. so that was awesome.
The next day in zagreb was kind of weird. we didnt really teach anyone, except the landlord who came to the aparmtent to fix the plumbing. but we gave him a book of mormon!! that was great. we did stop to eat at this restaraunt called... (drumroll) "California Burrito". I cant even tell you how excited I was... and then we ate it. And it was soooooo lame. hahah. I think Ive made better burritos at college. When I didnt even know how to make food. But hey. It was edible. And Sister Orgill sensed my disappointment, so we went and got TWO desserts. Hahaha. Fritoule covered in nutella (oh man) and then we went to a place called Cookie Factory. It was pretty good, but we asked for cookies and cream ice cream, and they gave us like.. banana or something. Idk. Haha.
Funny story. We were in the mission office when Elder Hobbs gets a call from some sisters. He gets of the phone and says "Well, apparently the Rijeka sisters have been kicked out of their apartment."
...WHAT?!
Yep. Our landlord called and told us he changed the locks because we havent paid. Okay so we didnt pay yet, and he totall , but he wanted to scare us. So we figured everything out (well, they figured everything out, i was in zagreb) and then i got back and everything is fine... lets just say, the sooner we move out of there, the better.
President Rowe came to our branch activity on Friday. That was a party. Its funny, ive always known the egg dying tradition of easter to be a tradition, but here its like a way big deal. so it was fun, we had a wonderful spiritual meeting, and then we dyed eggs :) and, surprise, what else do you do with eggs besides EAT THEM. so like, everyone hands them out here and then actually eats them as a treat. they also play this game where you fight your hard boiled eggs to see which is stronger. like, you smash them against each other, and then whoevers breaks first loses. so i played that. that was great. and then, on sunday, people gave us more eggs. haha. i love it here. did you know you could dye eggs with red onions? because you can. we got some of those too.
Also, Ivan, from our branch presidency, is MY new best friend for facebook. He is constantly showing me updates and stuff from your facebook. so i dont have to worry about not knowing when candace goes into delivery, because youll probably post something, and he will show me. haha. its great.
Easter was good! I gave the talk in Sacrament Meeting, as Ivan obviously shared. I translated it into Croation, but he was nice and proofread, and then fixed my mistakes. It was kind of lame, but I just sat there and read it word for word and didnt even look up until the end. Hahaha. I cant even imagine how scary that was for you, Dad... I can absolutely relate to that, but cant even imagine how much scarier it was, not having any time to prepare. I just wish I were blessed with the same gift of tounges. Haha. There were so many people at church!! It was awesome. Antonijas whole family came!!! It feels like church when there are families there. We had a big lunch, and then went and delivered cookies to members and investigators, and then we had a big easter dinner at the senior couple's house :) :) it was awesome. we just talked and ate ham and it felt like Easter. I loved it.
