On p-day on June 9th, we went to see a sister and her son, and helped him work on his farm and had dinner!! We had a spritual thought and gave him a Book of Mormon :) This guy is so cool. (her son) He is really intellectual and has read basically every book ever, and knows that there is just no way that this earth could ever be an accident. He said he sees God in everything, and so before we left we said, "for the man who has read every book on religion!! except this one" :) It was just a really cool night and we just bonded. They have the most beautiful family. The mother is Croation and the son is American/Italian/Black and they speak both Croation and English in the home. So its fun to be with them and speak a little of both. And it was just such a fun day. And they had all these ADORABLE GOATS. Okay, so the older ones were just normal looking, but they had 3, 3-month-old babies that we got to walk around on this lead thing that he has hooked up. Oh man I just want a farm so bad now.
We ended up having 3 new investigators this week! Which is basically unheard of here. We met a lady through tracting after our appointment with our less active fell through. I have literally never had a more perfect missionary experience. We straight up knocked on her door, and she let us in, asked us what we were doing here, gave us keks and sok (okay but everyone gives us keks and sok. thats why ive gained 10 pounds), and then we had a first lesson with her. And she told us she wanted us to come back and learn more. I mean... it was the weirdest experience ever. Because it was just so NORMAL. Like... she didnt yell at us? What? She DIDNT slam the door in our face? What!! It was just a mini-miracle. And we also met a woman who is just SO cool and she speaks perfect English, but with a CRAZY stong British accent. And we met with her last night and got to know her life story. She was an athiest, turned Christian, and has all of these crazy stories about how her life has been spared in 100 different ways. I mean, she is just really cool. And has been so obviously prepared. I am excited.
One thing I loved from this past week was from my letter from Wishes!! (Wishes Meyers from C2 ward) (Hes the only one who sends me real letters, cough cough shame shame on my family) He had this AWESOME insight about magnifying your calling, and during personal study I came to the chapters in Jacob that talk about magnifying your calling, and how not to become blinded by looking beyond the mark. And Wishes explained that magnifying is all about focusing the light that is reflecting through the glass. How there are so many things we can focus on, but we need to pick the light and the area that God wants us to focus on, and focus on it! And magnify your callings by FOCUSING, not by taking on more things to do and trying to do more. So I shared it during companionship study one day, and Sister Peterson loves it too. And that has been our theme for this week. I even accidentally stumbled upon the verb, to magnify :) (povečati)
Lots of good things have happened. We have a mission wide goal to have 500 members attending church every week in all of Croatia, and it seems that the more we are trying to accomplish it, the less people are coming to church... So we have good things happening, and less good things happening. Like none of our members coming to church... just less actives. So it was an incredible blessing to have them come. But like... where did the members go? Hahah. AND we had an amazing lesson with this girl Valerie (name is changed) (I really just think shes the best. We bond over grammar stuff sometimes because she is studying English and I am studying Croatian, and there are some similarities and its fun for me) We have practice lessons with her so we can hang out and talk about spiritual things and she can fix our Croation. Anyway. BREAK THROUGH. Finally. We were talking about Faith in Christ and how we need to exercise that faith. And then finally she was just like... wait... WHAT are the differences between you and the Catholic church? And I think she had the first lesson before, but it was so different from this experience. She actually wanted to know now. So we had this incredible moment with her when we shared the first vision, and she picked up the Book Of Mormon and just started reading it. It was just quiet and she was just sitting there reading for about 3 minutes. It was really spiritual. I know she felt something. I know it. lets hope she turns into a "real" investigator soon.
Love you to infinity and beyond.
